ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY (09/03)
ALL STUDENTS
Latin students:
There is a JCL meeting Tuesday after school in room 208. Let’s elect some consuls! HS certamen is Thursday morning in room 208. JH certamen is Thursday morning in room 304. We need more participants! It’s Latin jeopardy. Everyone likes trivia.
Latin tutoring: Any 8th, 9th, or 10th grade Latin student willing to be a peer tutor please see Mrs. Brady.
Swedish club:
Swedish club will not meet today, due to it being a half-day, but will meet next Friday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 in room 201. We will discuss what we would like to do with the club: discuss Ingmar Bergman films, Ikea, Sweden’s contribution to music, pickled herring, and/or learn to speak Swedish (without conjugating a single verb or declining a single noun!). Vi ses!

ALL STUDENTS
This Friday at 7:00pm, our football team will go for its second victory. The game will be played on our home field against Rancho Solano. Join the Red Wave by wearing as much red as you can; help us sweep our opponent from the field. Come out and cheer the Titans onto victory!
Italian club:
The Italian club will meet after school today in room 223 at 3:30. A presto!
Swedish club:
Swedish club will not meet this Friday, due to it being a half-day, but will meet next Friday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 in room 201. We will discuss what we would like to do with the club: discuss Ingmar Bergman films, Ikea, Sweden’s contribution to music, pickled herring, and/or learn to speak Swedish (without conjugating a single verb or declining a single noun!). The Environmental Club will meet today at 3:15 in Rm 302. Please be prompt as we have a recycling speaker from the City of Chandler. All students are welcome!
Chess club:
In case you haven’t heard by now, we’ll say it one more time for thou. Chess Club meets soon – today in fact – our meeting starts 3:20, exact. Room 204 is where we’ll be, so come on down – why not? It’s free.
Reminder – the first Jazz Ensemble rehearsal is in room 213 tomorrow (Friday) from 12:30-1 pm.

Drama Club will be meeting today in the Theatre beginning at 3:45 and going until 5:00. After this, meetings will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays with different days being designated for different students. If you cannot make it today, contact Mr. Sullivan to find out which day or days you should attend.

ALL STUDENTS
CPA’s brand new engineering club (formally robotics) will be having an informational mtg. for motivated students after school on Thursday. We will be considering a variety of projects, ranging from sumo-bots and weather balloons to Lego mindstorms. We will probably set something on fire at least once this year. Meet in the forum at 3:30 p.m. We will meet until 4:15/4:30ish. If you have any questions, talk to Ms. Huelsenbeck.

A refresher on permissible jewelry:
Men’s Jewelry: No nose-rings, earrings, or other body-piercing jewelry will be permitted for boys. No wrist bracelets, anklets, or necklaces are permitted. A total of one watch and one ring are permissible. Both must be tasteful. Jewelry should not be distracting or dangerous. Students may appeal to the Headmaster to wear items of devotional or religious significance such as a necklace with a pendant, but such items must be worn inside the shirt and should not be visible.
Women’s Jewelry: Girls may wear one pair of short earrings only on the ear lobes. “Short” means that the earrings should not hang more than ½ inch below the ear lobe. Large hoops or other dangling or distracting earrings are not permitted. Loops are not to be larger than the size of a nickel. No body-piercing jewelry except traditionally-located earrings will be permitted. One simple ring on each hand is permitted. One wrist bracelet, one watch, and one small necklace are permissible. Only simple, fine-gauged, 16 to 20 inch, silver or gold chain necklaces (with or without a pendant) are permitted. No chokers, no beaded necklaces (colored or otherwise), no leather necklaces, no shells, no large or elaborate chain-link, and no large or elaborate pendants (larger than an inch in length, width or diameter) may be worn.

Chess. It’s a game – a board game. Ever heard of it? Well, if you already play or are interested in learning how to play, then you’ll be happy to know that the Chess Club is starting up very soon. Come and hear our plans for this year’s Chess Club at our informational meeting this Thursday (Sept. 2) after school in Room 204. All are welcome – be you a chess king, queen, bishop or pawn, come check it out and “get your checkmate on.”
